Working Paper No. 5

Política de infraestructura de Guatemala desde una perspective de integración regional

Author: Eduardo Bitrán

The paper “Guatemala’s Infrastructure Policies from a Regional Integration Perspective” reviewed the country’s infrastructure needs that would benefit from a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework to catalyze high-quality investment. The paper also argues that the region should complete the customs union, harmonize trade rules and further integrate services and factor markets.  In this context, Guatemala’s GDP is poised to grow by improving logistics, deepening integration into global production chains and increasing technological sophistication of exports.
