On May 10, 2013, the Growth Dialogue co-hosted (along with TEPAV and the World Bank) a meeting titled Industrial Policy in the World and in Turkey in Ankara, Turkey. At the meeting, which raised the need for Turkey to switch to high-tech sophisticated industrial production, World Bank Country Director Martin Raiser proposed a “symphonic” policy framework for TEPAV analyst Esen Çaglar’s “pipes and drums” analogy. Following the presentations, Danny Leipziger, the Managing Director of the Growth Dialogue, and Jan Svejnar, Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, provided assessments on Turkey’s industrial policies and the 10th Development Plan.
